This site uses cookies and similar technologies. We use two categories of cookies: essential cookies, which are always active, and analytics cookies, which are placed only when you consent.
Essential cookies
Essential, strictly necessary cookies are required for account login, session management, security, and fraud prevention. These are always active and do not require consent under UK/EU e-privacy law. You can disable them in your browser, but some site features may not function properly.
Analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4)
With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use our site so we can improve it. Google Analytics 4 places analytics cookies on your device to collect information such as page views, approximate (IP-derived) location, and browser/device details. These cookies are placed only if you accept them via our consent banner. If you reject, only essential cookies are used.
- Analytics provider: Google Analytics 4 (GA4)
- Purpose: usage measurement and site improvement
- Retention: up to 14 months (GA4 default)
- Shared with: Google (aggregated, IP-truncated)
We do not use advertising, marketing, or non-essential third-party tracking cookies.
Consent preference identifier (strictly necessary)
To record and retrieve your consent choices, we store a pseudonymous consent preference identifier locally on your device using your browser's localStorage (not a cookie). This identifier:
- Is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to us or any third party as a standalone identifier, except where necessary for the consent-management service itself.
- Is used only to record and retrieve your consent choices for UK GDPR / ePrivacy compliance and accountability purposes.
- Is strictly necessary to provide the consent-management function you have requested, under Article 5(3) of the UK/EU ePrivacy Directive, and does not require consent.
- Is not used for advertising, analytics, cross-site tracking, or any purpose other than consent management.
- When you are logged in, is derived from your user ID; otherwise a random local identifier is generated.
Because this identifier is strictly necessary, it is set automatically when you interact with the consent banner and cannot be disabled without clearing your browser's local storage. Clearing local storage does not erase our server-side consent log records, which are retained for 24 months from your most recent decision and then automatically deleted (see our Privacy Policy, Section 9).
Managing your choice
When you first visit the site, a cookie banner asks for your consent to analytics cookies. You can accept or reject analytics cookies, or manage your preferences. We use Google Consent Mode v2, which defaults analytics storage to denied until you accept. You can change your choice at any time using the "Cookie preferences" link in the site footer.
For more details, see the "Cookies and Similar Technologies" section of our Privacy Policy.
